Running a Toshiba Tecra with an Intel Pro/Wireless Lan 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter.

Annoyingly the wireless connection suddenly drops off but is instantly available again but requires the Connect button to be pressed. I say annoyingly because it happens mid way through downloading an update and this needs to be restarted from the begining or logs out of Bank.

I've disabled all startup items, also logged on to another wireless network but the same thing happens, it's totally random as far as I can tell.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Are you using the latest drivers? http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-59438
    you can either run
Using Windows to configure the connection then have the Wireless Zero Configuration in Services Set to Automatic and Started. Also have " use Windows to configure the network "checked in the Network card properties. and have authentication unchecked.

If you are using the Software that came with the card to configure the connection then make sure all the above is disabled and unchecked.

You can't use both it confuses Windows.
It could be your router make sure that has the latest firmware also. If you are running a software firewall make sure the connection is in the trusted zone. Also if you are networking put the IP range in the trusted zone also. I know that has nothing to do with loosing a connection but it eliminate that annoyance so you can get on with troubleshooting.

There is also the possibility the card has gone south or the connection is loose. I would check that also if the other things aren't relevant.

Thanks for the advice. The updated driver seems to have done the trick.
