How to install program on H.D directly w/o cd drive

    Want to know how to install program directly on H.D from my friend P.C , my system doesnot have cd drive , I understand there is socket available on motherboard which can be connected externally to device which is that?

    You could take your friends HD out and put it in yours. Set the jumpers on his HD so it is a slave drive. Connect to the end of the wide cable which is connected to your HD, yours should be already connected to the center of the cable, and connect the power supply to it, it would look exactly like the one plugged into yours.
    It would be easier to do a file transfer via a messenger program across the internet.

    if you had a network card installed on each machine you could connect them and transfer them. You could also use a serial connection for the transfer... however that is somewhat slow.

    Or use a $6:50 laplink parallel cable & use the software that comes with windoze, or use the new PEN USB drives (32-128 mb) for $25-$99. These are a sleeping giant at this time! Very clever little buggers that lets ya transfer proggys without buning a cd.:)

    Or you could do a backup of the program on floppys!!!!
