Lost Administrator Password In XP Home

    On another system I set an administrator passowrd with other accounts a limited. Now I have forgotten the password. Is there any way around this short of formatting the hardrive and starting over?

    That is the only advice we can give here.
    There is a precaution you can take against this in the future. Make a Reset Password floppy. This floppy will only work on the machine it was created on, and resets the password to whatever it was when the floppy is created.
    It is called Prevent a Forgotten Password, in Control Panel\User Accounts, then choose Admin user, it will be on the left.
