Hi, about an hour ago I was on the computer during a thunderstorm. A power outage occured and i waited until the storm passed. Now, I tried to run Windows (XP Pro) in normal mode again and when I got to the main screen NOTHING would load. I'd click my documents or Internet explorer and no windows would pop up. I had internet connectivity but nothing was able to pop up. So, I tried windows safe mode with networking and everything seems to be working fine. Which leaves me with the question, did my HDD suffer damage from the power outtage or is there a fix for a problem such as this? Thanks for your help!

A couple of easy things to try would be:

System restore to a time prior to the failure

Uninstall/Reinstall the video adapter/drivers while in Safe Mode

  3. to hide this advert.

Did the power flicker ( fluctuate ) at all before it went out.

Power going directly out usually will not hurt. But any fluctuation may.

Gotta go RIGHT NOW myself. We have a 3rd storm for the day coming.
