For no apparent reason My logitech wireless ,never failed yet as long as the batteries are up, mouse, started doing strange things this morning. Click on freecell, it would open word pad, whatever other application that struck it`s fancy, Couldn`t open system restore at all (goody, goody,)
Reboot, AVG scan for virus, none detected, it seemed to work, properly whenever the mood hit it. The keyboard was a Packard Bell that I`ve used for a long time, one that has all the extra buttons for sleep, previous, next, eject, stop, etc. the same of which I never used. My shrewd, deductive reasoning type mind told me to change the keyboard, besides I never did like Packard Bell. That cured the problem.I wonder if I didn`t inadvertently push some button on the keyboard.

    Update on berserk clicker

I evidently just thought the problem was cured! It started doing the same thing again with this different keyboard.
This time when I rebooted, I was able to get to system restore, I restored back a few days and so far eveything is working OK, stay with me I may be back!

Since it is a wireless mouse, you might want to look into if there might be something causing interference. Or maybe the mouse is just on it's last legs.

Keep us informed of what happens!

    Hmmmmm,

I had a problem with my Logitech wireless optical mouse a bit back. Wouldn't even come up with a mouse pointer on the screen. It was like there was no mouse at all. Since the reciever is USB I said what the heck and unplugged it and plugged it back in. Problem was gone, pointer was back and useable, and the problem has not returned.

If the mouse works otherwise except for calling up the wrong file for the application you may want to do a property on one of the icons in question to see what program it points to. Also, goto the start menu/programs and right click on a program that is in question and send it to desktop. Try the new icon and see what happens.

I`ve had a minimum of problems with my Logitech wireless mouse. What few did show up had the "feel" of mouse trouble and were easily remedied.
Beside I don`t WANT it to be the mouse
Thinking back to any changes made, I added a XP information balloon disable, and a freebie spell check, just previous, like a few days, to the problem. I uninstalled the balloon remover first, and thought I had a cure, but here it came again.
That time it showed up it dawned on me that I had tried the freebie spell checker out on a reply message like this one I`m writing now. So I uninstalled the spell checker. So far so good, no more problems. If it fouls up again I`ll be back, otherwise assume one or the other of the uninstalls caused the trouble. I can live without them!
