I've updated AVG and run a virus check with nil result. However my keypresses produce strange results with certain keys in every program, dialogue boxes etc (always the same keys, I think, but not the same results eg pressing 'i' can give '=i', pressing 'w' 'space w' other keys 'two digits and the key pressed' etc. I've replaced various keyboard files from another computer running the same OS to no avail. Before formatting and reinstalling, I thought I'd ask.

Win 2K Pro on a Dell Latitude L400 with 256k ram, 20 gb hdd. O2K the main programme used

    Hi jdover
What do you mean by "keyboard files "? Do you mean you changed actual keyboards?
