Recently downloaded Netscape and am in process of learning where everything is located.
Regarding entering a new URL to get to view. I do not have this URL in any bookmarks so I typed in the new URL. But where do I click to go to this new URL? Usually there is a 'GO' or something to take me there. Then when I get there I would enter it into my bookmarks. But I can't even get to the site.
Am I entering the URL in the wrong place?
    Please advise
    Claire

    Claire,

Did you try hitting the enter key after typing in the url?

    Mike

Just a thought here. If the new Netscape is based on Firefox, try right clicking on an empty space on the toolbar where the go button should be. Selecet customize and see if a go button is in the list. Just drag it up to where you want and you'll be set. I don't have the new Netscape, so I'm not positive about this. It works in Firefox though.

There is only one place to enter the URL. The Go is not necessarily there, although you can customize the page (it depends on the NS version).
And MN Mike is completely correct, use the keyboard Enter.

DUH! Now that says it all. How easy can it be but never thought of ENTER. I do hope any more of my questions can be fixed as easy.
I am not using the latest version 8.0 as I am not jumping into that yet. More than likely my computer would go into cardiac arrest being it is Win98.
    Thanks to both of you.

    Claire,

You're welcome and yes, it would be nice if all problems could be fixed that easily! :D

There is a built in Go in NS8, to the far right, outside the URL box. I may have different shapes depending on the Theme. Just do a mouseover, and it will say that it is a Go button( I must guees that, because there is an entire speech on mouseover). And, by golly, I never realized the Go button on the right of the Search box was an all purpose Go. Now, I moved it where it belongs.

    Claire,

If you would like a "Go" Button, do this:

Click on: Edit | Preferences | Navigator

At the bottom of the window there are options for the buttons you would like to have on the Navigation Toolbar.

Be aware that Netscape 7.2 does have security vulnerabilities, and you would be well advised to instead use
    Mozilla 1.7.8
, which is the same as Netscape, with the exception of the ability to create a Netscape Webmail Account, and there is no AIM.

Of course, Ramona is correct about NS7.2 and earlier, and Mozilla1.7.8 and earlier. everyone started flying in all directions, and, should Claire come back, it would be nice. for future reference to specify the version. And, my next suggestion is to take one button at the time, and find out what's there. It took me a good year to find out that the Go button of the Menu Bar meant History. Logical, is it not?

    Westside,

Claire did say: "I am not using the latest version 8.0 ", so I assume she is using a 7.x version. Perhaps you missed that info.
