    Hello,

I have been using FF/TB for several months. How do I determine what plugins are installed as well as the version of the plugin ?

    Firefox 1.0.4
    Thunderbird 0.7.1
    MS win2k sp4

    Thanks

    - Don

Copy and paste about:plugins into the URL address bar, push enter.
If you like, you can also "Bookmark" the view.

Or, install InfoLister, an extension which works with both Firefox and Tbird, and also displays information about extensions and themes, as well as plugins.

    Jim,
I tried Infolister, and it is not as detailed as about:plugins. It is probably ok, but would you or anyone else know why I have a bunch of asterisks next to each file type for the Windows Media dDynamic Plugin. There is no unusual notation in Infolister.
The reason why I ask is that some websites are giving me, and I am sure other gecko type programs, fits. One example is cmt.com, others are vh1 and mtv.com
In each case there is a Windows Media player driven embedded player. A few minutes ago I tried to view some videos, and all said that it could not find the WMP9 plugin. I have WMP10, which works fine with other parts of the CMT website.

Sorry, Westie, I can't help you, but that's what you get for trying to listen to boot stompin' music on your computer ... that's why God and RCA invented radio. :D. Incidentally, two of my favorite C&W songs are My wife ran away with my best friend, and I miss him and If the phone don't ring, you'll know it's me.

npnul32.dll is the default Mozilla plugin, but I have the same asterisks you show in about[colon]plugins and it shows as not enabled, which makes no sense to me. (BTW, did you notice that the combination of the colon and the p gives you a :p in your post?)

    Jim,
I did not expect a reasonable answer.
Why don't you use personal message. But we got to learn about :p at least.

    Westside,

I found that if I installed the old wmp9.reg file, which just adds a bunch of Mozilla/Firefox entries to the HKLM-Software-Microsoft-Media Player-ShimInclusionList area, then reinstalled the stand-alone version of the WMP10 installer, the links then will open and run the WMP10 embed's in Firefox.

You can also just add Firefox.exe to the list yourself I guess, but that reg file always did it fine for me.
