I'm having a small problem with MS Excel 2002 SP3. The sound switch keeps turning itself off and I have to go back into tools-options-general and turn the sound back on. This can happen a few times a day. Anyone else have this problem?

    ian1937 - Welcome to the Board :)

Not come across that problem, but would suggest trying a repair ....

Help > Detect and Repair or go via Add/Remove Programs > Office or Excel > Change/Remove and select Repair from the dialogue box.

Thanks PeteC I've never had to do that before. It's been done so I will let you know if it solves the problem or not.

Glad to hear that the solution was that straightforward :) One to bear in mind for the future!

Dag Nab it - it's doing it again!!!
Any other suggestions - it seemed to stop for a day. I've had no luck searching Microsoft's web pages.

There is, I think, a subtle difference, which escapes me at the moment, between ....

    Help > Detect and Repair

    and

Add/Remove Programs > Office or Excel > Change/Remove and select Repair from the dialogue box.

Whichever method you used, suggest you give the other a try.

Sorry to have to report that this didn't work either. Removed MS Office Professional and MS Office sound completely. Reloaded both turned sound switch on. It worked for a short time then turned itself off.

I've resigned myself to mute office operation. There were no other comments of similar experiences so it must be something on my computer!

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Sorry - fresh out of ideas :( - clearly not a common problem.
