I just upgraded from Adobe Acrobat Standard ver. 5.0 to the Standard ver. 7.0. I have a PDF document that has images in it, and I am trying to select the image and delete it so I can replace it with another one. I can select the image, but the option to delete is greyed out. The only option I have is to copy it or copy to clipboard.

If I paste an image from another application into the PDF document, I can delete that image, but not the one in the already converted document. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

OK - well I got an answer from another forum. The tool I need is called the Touch Up Object Tool - which I had in my older version 5.0.

Here's the deal. I had version 5.0 of the full Adobe Acrobat. I decided to upgrade, so I upgraded to the standard version 7.0, which is what I thought I had in version 5.0. Turns out, the version 5.0 is neither standard nor professional, but in order to get all the tools I had in version 5.0 I would have to upgrade to the professional version. Since Adobe didn't exactly tell anyone about this little "technicality" I basically just downgraded myself. I am not a happy camper!

    Take a look at http://foxitsoftware.com/

I am using the free reader and much prefer it to the Adobe Actobat reader. Smaller, faster, more features.

I strongly suspect their PDF editor will be lots cheaper and lots more feature rich so it may well allow you to do exactly what you want. From their web page

Thanks for the tip. I had downloaded the free reader and liked its speed, but it doesn't integrate with Firefox so I quit using it. However, the editor is another story and I will give it a look. I still have my older version of Acrobat 5.0 that I can use, but it just really irritates me when software companies are not completely upfront about their software. It would be a lot simpler for people to just buy the one they need instead of being tricked into buying something that is not right for them. Oh, by the way, I complained to Adobe and they were "kind" enough to tell me I could send it back for a refund.
