    Hi,
    I know what you mean by AOL and I did forget that possibility and will certainly look further into that later...If I see other AOL's loaded I will un-install them or it and try again..Thanks for that reminder...

    As for re-installing windows 98se in between the attempts at Xp, it did not cause a problem and I do believe that may be because I rolled it back to Windows 98 both times after it failed...Since the scandisk was done and the re-install, the re-boot problem appears to have gone south for now which was a big headache...

    I will post back tomorrow as I must give what brain cells I have left a little R&R...

    If you do find any it make take a lot of MANUAL cleanup work.

    And you are welcome.

    :)Do not ask me how I learned that and I will not have to lie. :)

    In another case ;
    A Niece thought she was going to sneak AOL in on the machine she uses without me knowing it. But when the machine began doing strange things or going to strange Web Sites she did not get away with it. It took me the better part of a day to get rid of it. Plus she did not get to use the machine for a week.

    OK. That would help

    Hi,
    I gave the computer approx 16 hrs to rest and cool down and as soon as I turned it on, it did nothing but reboot and reboot...

    Update:...I tried un-plugging the CD-Rom and then the Floppy drive seperately and neither one of those made a difference...With all suggestions and consideration plus what I have done, I am going to remove and place the hard drive and memory chips into another tower that I have as a spare so my friend and his family will (hopefully) have a better and working computer...Once again, thank you all for your great assistance as always...
