Every time I log onto my computer, the 'found new hardware wizard' comes up for 'Extended PnP BIOS ENumerator' and last time I tried installing it, my pc kept restarting as soon as I turned it on (had to take it back to the computer store). What do I do?
    Thanx,
    Warren

Hi Warren. This one is more hardwareish than OS specific I think do I'm moving the topic from XP to the hardware section where it is more likely to get you a good answer.

The BIOS enumerator in a plug-and-play system identifies all hardware on the mainboard. Your solution may be as simple as doing a BIOS update but wait for someone who knows what they are talking about - I'm just making guesses.

Just to rule something out I would go to my bios and make sure that the board setting for PnP OS installed is enabled or yes.

Hi Warren, (welcome to the BBS)

I would place a very large bet that you need the the motherboard/chipset drivers installed or updated.

They will be on the CD that came with the computer or we could help you find them if you can tell us the maker and model number of your motherboard (also which version of Windows).

Warren, do you have the model number of the motherboard? A Gigabyte nForce2 250 is not mentioned here:
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/motherboards.html

Have you solved the original problems? It is best to start a new thread if you are having new problems.

The SCSI controller problem should be solved by installing the correct drivers. I doubt that motherboard has a built-in SCSI controller so there will be a SCSI card in one of the slots. You could remove the card if you do not have any SCSI drives connected to it, otherwise you will need to identify the make and model of the card and find and install the drivers.

The DVD problem may be solved by installing the IDE controller drivers from Gigabyte/nVidia, although it may be due to not having the jumpers set correctly or even not having the correct settings in the burning program.

The DVD drive, does it read media OK? Is "burning" the only problem? Which burning program do you use? Do you get any error messages?

    Matt
