I am playing around with the new Netscape 8.01 and the passcard data fill-in works when it uses the IE rendering engine, but if I go to this site or other sites, forums, etc. that require a login\username\password, and I switch to the "Display like Firefox" option at the left hand bottom of the browser screen, I can see on the message bar across the top, the message which says I have a username and password for that site but then if I click on "fill and submit" it will fill in the blanks with my userid\pass but will not log me in, and even if I just click on "fill" it will again fill in the my userid\pass but then when I go to login and click on it,myself, it does nothing at all but just sit there, as if I had not clicked on "login" and this is if the option "Display like Firefox is selected at the bottom of the screen. Is this typical for using Firefox in the new Netscape browser?
Anyway,I then have to go and click on the option to "Display like Internet Explore" and the userid\password will fill in automacially and submit the info when I tell it to and then I am in the forums without a problem. My question, is this the way the new browser works, in that this is how it works when rendering with the Internet Engine, and the Display like Firefox will not work for logging me on after filling in the blanks with my userids\passwords?

Maybe I have something set wrong,or whatever. Would a clean install help this problem or not, maybe something is corrupted. I just wondered if anyone could tell me if this has anything to do with Java, or Java Scripting, Activex or something like that, as I have the latest version of Java installed.Hope I haven't confused anyone, I don't think I understand this new Netscape browser very well. Any help is appreciated.

    Vanilla Ice,

It may very well be your settings. I had quite a time getting Netscape 8 to autofill my user name, password, and keep my cookie for this site especially.

In the Tools | Options | Site Controls, add WindowsBBS to the list of sites, by typing the URL in the Filter field. I had to do this several times for the site to be added. Closing the browser and restarting finally did the trick. Then highlight WindowsBBS, and click on "I trust this site" and enable Allow Cookies/From Originating Site Only. Just keep at it, and it will finally kick in. The browser seems a bit buggy on settings.

Thanks Ramona, I did as you instructed and now this bbs windows, site will log me in when I click on the submit and fill thingie, and some other sites that need userid\pass will now log me in also when I click on fill and submit, once I added their sites per your instructions. Not the first time, though, I had to do it 2 times here, for it to work and 3 times on a couple of other forums. But, there is one site, that chooses not to remember me even though I place a checkmark in the option to "always remember me or always log me automatically in ". " Jeesh....the new Netscape is a bit confusing what with those different renderning engines, and all those tabs and other toolbars it seems to want to use. Mine sometimes looks very busy at the top with a few tabs open and then the toolbars to boot. Also, this 8 browswer does not seem to be as fast to load web pages. as V.7.2. For nowI still got it installed but this V.8 may be evicted from my computer. Maybe try it again, at a later stage with some bug fixes, etc. etc. Anyway, great forum you guys have here, and thanks for all your help

    Vanilla Ice,

Glad to hear that most of your sites will log you in now. Netscape 8 definitely has some bugs that need fixing, but hopefully AOL will take some interest in the users, on the Netscape Browser Forum, who are reporting these bugs, daily.
