    Hi,
A friend of mine has an old computer running Windows 95. Her son came over and decided to "clean" her computer because he said there were many unnecessary files on there. Obviously, he didn't know what he was doing so when he was done and rebooted the system it couldn't due to some missing necessary files.

This is what I've done so far. I started the computer using a Windows 98 Startup Disk. I put in the Windows 95 disk into the CD-ROM and managed to run Setup.Exe from it. It seems as though some of the missing files are OK now but I still get this error message when booting up.

    This file was deleted: C:Windows\system\VMM32\NTKERN\VXD
When I press a key to continue I get the message:
A fatal exception OD has occured at 0117:00007E0F. The current application will be terminated. Press any key to continue. I then press ENTER and I get nothing on the screen but a blinking cursor in the middle of the screen.

Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

    Jean

Please ignore this posting. I finally just loaded Windows 98 and wiped everything off the computer.

    Thanks for reading these posts.
