Something very strange is going on! I'm trying to install norton Personal firewall. I've tried from both a CD and from putting it on my harddrive. I only have a "C" drive and it's not partitioned. I'm getting a message when it comes to putting it in C:/program files/norton personal firewall
I get a box that reads:
"You selected an invalid target directory or drive. Please select again.
Norton Personal firewall must be installed on a local hard drive. The directory cannot contain any accented or special character and you cannot install it on the ROOT or SYSTEMS directories" I don't get this! WHY is this happening and it won't let me install?? HELP!!!! Thanks all!!
    Tres (aka DBD)

NAV, sometimes goof on install and must be manually unistalled from the registry. The Symantec site tells what entries must be deleted to manually uninstall. The entries vary depending on the version.

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious and this is just a typo. But shouldn't C:/program files/norton personal firewall be C:\program files\norton personal firewall ?

sorry I wrote it with the "/" the wrong way! Had nothing to do with why it wouldn't install. Infact I was choosing what the install default WANTED! And even then tried to go in to BROWSE and make a new folder. Tried all and won't install!

This has been my solution when faced with NAV problems, and uninstall or reinstall won't work.

    http://service2.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/pfdocs/2000092310202906

I've gotten to the point where I back up the registry and then delete everything that relates to a search for norton or nav or symantec. Of course you then must reinstall all your symantec apps.
