Thanks for the heads up, Minnesota Mike.

    However, my experience so far:
I can find no way to disable the new version of AdAware from scanning for Negligible Objects.
The AA log says my Scanning settings are
    "Ad-Aware SE Settings
    ===========================
Set : Search for negligible risk entries
Set : Safe mode (always request confirmation)
    Set : Scan active processes
    Set : Scan registry
    Set : Deep-scan registry
Set : Scan my IE Favorites for banned URLs
    Set : Scan within archives
Set : Scan my Hosts file "
But on the Scanning settings window, there is no option to disable "Search for negligible risk entries ".

And if you do not add a found "Negligible Object" to the Ignore list, the Negligible Object is automatically deleted as you exit AA. And this includes Start|Run MRU's, Address line entries, list of recent documents and many other lists.
Needless to say, on the second scan I have put found Negligible Objects into the Ignore file.

What on earth is Lavasoft thinking of? The new version # is 1.06r1. Maybe that "r" means beta?
Maybe best to stay with (go back to) 1.05??

    Or have I missed something?

PeteC--I swear that setting was not there before, but it is now (Just as it was in previous versions). Too bad I lost all those lists. :(
    Many thanks.

Got to hate it when they aren't there the first time then appear the second time. It's enough to drive a guy crazy!

Curious, is there a reason not to remove the Negligible items? I've always removed all items that AA has found and never had a problem.

I performed a full system scan, it found 6 tracking cookies and 30 MRU's. To view them, I had to click the respective tab. I checked to remove the former 6 but not the latter 30. A second full system scan found the 30 MRU's but no tracking cookies.

Version 1.05 didn't display any "negligible risks" until all "real threats" had been removed. Maybe that was a setting I missed on the previous version.

    I use the free version.

MinnesotaMike--Nave a look at what the Negligible Objects are. (You can do that from the tab at the end of the scan or more easily from the AA log. The latter is probably in C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\Logs.) Then decide for yourself if you really want things like your Start|Run list, IE Address Line drop down, list of recent Documents, etc. to be deleted. AA deleted 33 such MRU's (Most recently run) lists from my PC, before I knew what was happening. Cannot remember if I had the option to put into quarantine, but I did not.
I agree that almost all the time you can get rid of (or at least Quarantine) "baddies" that AA finds. But Negligible Objects are rarely baddies, and that is why AA allows you to not detect them.

    Jim,

Thanks. I just looked at my last log and don't see anything there that I'm worried about keeping. I'll have to take a look at it the next couple of times and see what it finds.
