I have been having problems while playing .MID files. I have used a number of programs, WinAmp, VanBasko, CompuPic Pro, Widows Media player etc. They all seem to work fine but during first few songs they hang up on one note that continues and have to be shut down with CTRL/ALT/DEL. All of the apps do the same thing. Unless I reboot Win98 cannot now find the .MID file I just played but after reboot all is OK till it fails again.

    I have a SB Live in a DELL T500 with Win98SE

    Any suggestions?

Try reinstalling your soundcard's drivers. Rightclick your My Computer icon and click Properties. Then click the Device Manager tab and scroll down to Sound, Video and Game Controllers and remove any references to your Sound Blaster. Then you should shut your machine down, wait a couple seconds and turn it back on. Your PC will now detect your SB Live as a new card and you'll be asked to install the drivers for it, so be sure you have your installation CD handy.
