I have been a Windows 98 user for a while but when I upgraded my system to a faster processor I was unhappy to find out the my Windows 98 wouldn't run on it so I reluctantly got Windows XP (Home) SP2. My problem is this: I am unable to see animations on my browser, Internet Explorer Ver 6.0.2900, on any site I go to. However when I create web pages in Front Page and preview them in Front Page I can see the animation. I have looked at my Internet Options/Advanced/Multimedia and everything there is checked. Being new at Windows XP I was hoping one of you more experienced XP users migh have a few suggestions. (I sure do miss my Windows 98). Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Also as a PS when I click on the animated image and view it in the Windows viewer it show the animation.

So the image is not showing automatically when you access the webpage, until you click on it? Does an image open automatically in this case or do you have to tell Windows to use the Windows viewer? Is the problem limited to animated images or also static images? Do you see a static image before you click on it?
Are you saying that the problem is limited to animated images on websites?
Perhaps you do not have .gif images (which are the majority of animated images images, unless you are talking about Flash images) associated with a program that can open them? Like IE, Windows Viewer, Irfanview, MSPaint, etc.?

No the images that are on any web pages still show but if they are animated they show as static. This happens on all web pages but when I view a web page that I created with Front Page in preview mode, not on the web, the animated images are animated. If I click on an animated gif that I have in my Picture Folder it opens in the default viewer and it is animated. That leads me to believe that its the browser that is not funcioning properly. When I get on my Windows98 computer everything works fine. I was able to fix IE with 98 by going to the Contro Panel/Add Remove Programs but I don't see that feature on XP.

Sorry for all the bother. I have discovered the problem. I have Zone Alarm Pro installed to use as a firewall instead of the XP firewall and when I installed it the default settings for privacy bloacke pop-ups over & under ads and ANIMATIONS. I have since disabled it and everything works fine. Sorry for all the bother.
