    May be just my imagination or what ever but, I THINK :) I have found and fixed my problem.

    As this is THE FIRST time I have ever really messed with two browsers.

    I have not. Do not. And never will learn BY NOT DOING

    :) Why do you think I make sure the other PC is working before I start messing with this one :) MY BIGGEST problem is remembering what I did so that I can HOPEFULLY undo it. System Restore is a GREAT HELP there believe me.

    I was on NS. Shut it down and tried to open IE ( TESTING purposes ) I JUST GOTTA try things you know what I mean . As far as I am concerned that is what this thing was built for.

    I could not get IE to open properly. Came up all messed up. Something about wrong name or something. ( I do not read all of the screen )

    So being me as I am I TREID to think of a reason or connection between the
    two.

    The only thing could think of was a possibility that I was using the same home page on both ( which I was )

    So I change the home page on IE to something else. Now I can open IE with no problem. I have them both open right now. And can go back and forth with no problem. And IE is on a site with Audio.

    I am here with IE

    Any other ideas are sure welcome.

    BillyBob,

    Is anyone invited to this thread or are you just talking to yourself? :D Right now I have IE and Firefox open. In Firefox, Im replying to your thread. In IE, I'm listening to the American Warrior. Very nice site by the way. I was also able to hear the other link playing while writing this. I set both IE and Firefox to the same homepage, shut both down and restarted IE without problems. Firefox also restarted with no problems. Just thought I'd throw in what I see.

    You are quite welcome to join. Any ideas are always welcome.

    OK. First off this is an entirely new adventure for me.

    Could this be as case of it is OK for you but STINKS for me ? I would bet that you have been that route.

    It could also be due to what the page is. I was using www.msn.com.

    But what clued me in a bit was that fact that if I waited a minute or two all would be OK. And once I got them both started then it was all OK.

    And also I posted here for any other ideas that may fit the situation.

    Something else that may come into play here.

    You have Firefox and IE. I have NS 8 and IE. That could make a difference

    I have found and preached MANY TIMES. It may well be the COMBINATION that makes a difference. Along with what else may be running at the same time.

    AHHH RATS !!! I have an unhappy Niece. The CDROM Drive in the machine she uses just DIED ? DOS does not even read it. I have two more sittin around here. I just need to aquire the AMBITION to do it.

    BB,

    Oh yes, I have been down the "what works for you doesn't work for me" road before. So many variables to venture a guess. Sorry. I had used Netscape for a long time then switched to Firefox. Firefox seemed to be allot better at opening sites that only IE could. Any initial thoughts on N8?

    I know how hard it is to find that ambition to get something done. It's always the little things that take so long to get around to! I have some home projects like that!

    For all it is worth, the Irish Blessing, looks and sounds great in Mozilla1.7.8.
    Requirements are: Java (I see the coffee cup) in the Systray. And, it requires Flash. I can tell, because I am blocking Flash, and can unblock as I go.
    and, as usual IE fails miserably, because it can't find Flash. I installed Flash for IE, and it still gives broken link. The player is Flash-driven, so no Flash no go.
    NS8.01 is interesting because of its dual capabilities. Sorry, I call it a mongrel, but it is not so bad. I set the same Irish Blessing to open as Firefox, and, I have no problem. Interestingsly, it will show another coffee cup.
    However, going to the home page, the IE mode works fine music-wise, but no sound in FF mode. And, things are so bad in the IE, as far as Flash is concerned that I cannot even get to download the newest version.
    There must be some spyware, because Spyware Blaster does a yeoman job with IE and Firefox, but the item blocked are different.
    So much for the tab-crazy NS8, otherwise an excellent browser.

    Westside,

    Fx, works fine here on this site: http://www.andiesisle.com/Blessings.html

    How are you blocking script? I use this code in the Fx userContent.css file:

    Code:
    /* Prevent flash animations from playing until you click on them. */
    object[classid$= ":D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"],
    object[codebase*= "swflash.cab"],
    object[type= "application/x-shockwave-flash"],
    embed[type= "application/x-shockwave-flash"],
    embed[src$= ".swf"]
    { -moz-binding: url( "http://www.floppymoose.com/clickToView.xml#ctv "); }
    Once I click on the blocked Flash animations, I was able to hear the music.

    Good Morning All

    I am going to attempt writing this while ATTEMPTING to keep a set of 5 year old fingers off my keyboard. I got him playing Mini-Golf on the other machine. :) Wonder how long that will last :)

    Westside,

    Same situation here with Irish Blessings.

    This is why I use sites like that for testing. They seem to give a better overall idea as to how things are going to work.

    But one thing that we must not forget. " No matter what OS or Browser there may well be something that does not work porperly. Maybe due to COMBINATIONS again.

    NS=Audio no go without QT.
    FF=Just fine with QT not even loaded.

    Now a basic conclusion that I have come too.

    AOL/Netscape are attempting to become a 2nd Microsoft in deciding what we need to run these machine. Mozilla-Firefox seems to be designed to use what is there. ( I like that better )

    Now before anybody asks. Here is the answer. Before last evenings' mess up I could not HONESTLY compare. Now I can.

    I BillyBob the careless, did something last evening that stopped NS from working properly. Just what I am not sure. But anyway I un-installed it and did a SR to before NS install. Then Installed FF.

    Next Step ( this AM )
    I opened TaskManager and watched the CPU usage for both IE and FF. Seemed to be quite a difference in both low and high ends. ( very interesting to watch BTW anyway ) Even while writing here. ( enter uses 33% )

    I watched TM with NS loaded. ( no comment ) :)

    So. As of this moment it looks like Moxilla Firefox may be better for me. Mostly because it appears To not even attempt to take over the machine. It appears ( at this time again ) to use what is there.

    Oh !! Something I just rememberd. Last evening after I loaded FF I had the Irish Blessing open. My wife was out in the other room. All of the sudden I hear " That sounds better. "

    That should tell me something.

    But regardless I still stand firm on the difference in behavior may well be individual machine and setup of same. And it may not always be the software involved. Even what and how the OS is setup can play a part.

    Isn't this why we need to READ the box when we buy software ? And IE, FF, NS are SOFTWARE. And if we do not have the proper software and/or hardware combination things may not work properly. Even the basic MotherBoard itself may play a part.

    And that my Friends I do not think will ever change.

    BillyBob

    Ramona, you may have said the magic word: cab.
    I remember that when I was working AOL betas, I never once got the Active X of flash ( flash.ocx). I, always had to do it manually.
    I am not blocking script, and have no problem with anything but IE, or NS8 as explorer. I contacted the website, and I got an automatic reply, with some interesting information about the embedded player, which has nothing to do with the browser, but rather with the player.
    and, yes Ramona, I have the same set up as you have, but there is a big difference between blocking flash, and being prompted, and getting broken links.

    Never mind about the .cab. I tried some other clips from the same site, and I have read that some were .mp3 files, and some were not. There is no problem at at all with the gecko format, I finally hit one which brings up a flag in the systray telling me me that there was an update to the flash player. So, I went through the routine, it told me that it will be there on restarting. When I go back I have seen no difference.
    Again, this great IE6 can't find its own shadow. :D
