I sometimes receive links to websites in my Thunderbird mail. Usually I just copy and paste it in the Netscape browser to open it, but last night, I clicked on the http.....link i the body of the mail message and it didn't do nothing. It just sits there. Does not bring up my Netscape default browser with the page loaded at all. I tried it a few times then gave up.

Is there a way to make Thunderbird open the clickable link in my default browser? Or if not, maybe an extenison that would work for doing it?

    TIA

    Vanilla Ice,

Any clickable link in Thunderbird will open your default browser. I'm sure you have enabled Netscape as your default browser. Is it just this one link, as an isolated event, or is it ALL links in Thunderbird?

Check your settings in Netscape 7.2: Edit | Preferences | Advanced | System
Ensure that the HTTP and HTTPS settings are enabled.

At last check Vanilla Ice was using TB, and Fx, but using NS 7.2 as her Default Browser. However, this could have changed....

Yes, Ramona, is correct. I am using NS 7.2 as my default browswer but now have also installed the new V. 8.01 to check it out. Thanks Ramona, for the help, I could not open a link in my default browswer from Thunderbird, but checked what you sugguested and then tried it and the link opened in Netscape 7.2 just fine. Go figure....I'm a dummie when it comes to configuring web-browsers.

However,I then made Netscape 8--- the default browser, and clicked on a link from an email in TB and it opened OK, but it opened the web page in NS 7 instead of NS 8 which I had changed to my default browser for now. Am I doing something wrong ? or is there a setting I am missing in NS 8? Can I do something to make a link from a TB mail open in the new Netscape 8 or will it always open in NS 7? What would happen if I uninstalled V.7? All tips, tricks and help will be appreciated.

One last question, In the near future will you be adding a Help and Tips page on your website for the new Netscape?

    Vanilla Ice,

In Netscape 7.2, again go to the Edit | Preferences | Advanced | System settings. Disable every setting that is enabled, leave no ticks in any of the boxes. Then go to Netscape 8.01, and set it again as the Default. See if that does anything.

Yes, I will be adding Netscape 8 Solutions to my pages, and thanks for asking!
