Desktop is being viewed as window

    my desktop is suddenly being viewd as a window. It has a blue vertical column on the left side as a windows folder window does, with drop down arrows and such, i can not right clik any thing but i can in the rest of my dsktop. also it pushed several of my icons off the right side and they are totally unviewable, and lastly when i clikc the desktop, all windows drop behind it, lik they would if it was a maximized window, sumone plz help me.

    It sounds like you got a screenshot of the desktop. Can you close this "folder ". If you cannot close by mouse, make sure it is "active" then use this keyboard command, ALT+F4. That should close it, the right click on it and select Properties, and see if there is a Shortcut tab. If so, go to it, and click on Find Target to see where it is.

    no, no shortcut tab and when using alt f4, by the way thats smart didnt think about using it with windoes, it givees me shutdown options and its not actualy a window, just acts like a whindow

    Download and run XP_CommonTasks.exe. If it's the common tasks bar that's on your desktop that should take care of it.

    do i need to restart, if not then it didnt work

    omg now thats fixed and on the other side i ahve google, yes right freaking there google search i got a web page on my desktop how great im attatching a screen
    also i noticed that usually google desktop starts at start up and this time it didnt.... coincidince?
