I have an old Iomega zip 100 drive with data on lots of Zip disks. I want to transfer the data to current external USB hard drives. My zip install disk has drivers for Windows 95, 3.1 and DOS. If I attach the zip drive to the parallel port of my XP computer and try to use guest.exe under DOS, it does not assign a drive letter. I do still have a very old laptop that can read the disks from the zip drive, but it's not compatible with the USB hard drives. The laptop is a Toshiba Portege that originally came with Windows 3.1, but Windows was deleted since it's now just used for a DOS application.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can transfer the data?

Go to the iomega website. They have a driver for your Zip Parallel Port that works with 2000 & XP.

Problem solved. Many thanks. I would ordinarily have done that, but the person I was helping started by saying that Iomega no longer supports Zip 100s. I should have known better than to listen to him.
