    I have a problem with Word 2000 - part of office 2000.
There are no toolbars, formatting bars - no nuttin. Just the title bar and the text area. It looks like the full screen view, but with the title bar.
OS is W98SE. I've tried everything to reinstate the toolbars, from ESC, to every combination of F keys with Ctrl & Alt. Uninstall & remove all references to winword from the registry, then re-install. No Joy!! Still no toolbars either. Can any of you very knowledgable people offer any suggestions other than changing to OpenOffice (I have a co-user who is fearful of having to learn a new program).

    Ta muchly in advance.

Try ALT V to see if you can get to the VIEW menu.

Might also consider seeking out and destroying the default template Normal.dot . (it's a hidden file)It'll get recreated next time you launch Word.

Alt + C restores Word 2003 from Full Screen to Normal.

Well I'm back after a few days off. Many thanks for your suggestions.
Now for some feedback. We dood it!! :)
First though: Ctrl+C didn't work - brought up clip board. Mind you it may have done in a later version of Word.
Second: Alt+ v didn't bring up a menu. Neither did most of the other alt+ combinations. Checked out
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;291484. Followed the suggestion to run winword.exe /a from the command line. Word started & displayed correctly.
Next searched for and renamed normal.dot . Restarted word. Hallelujah, it worketh correctly. :)
If it hadn't worked, the next step would have been to edit the registry as per MS instructions.
Note for any other travelleers of this road - follow the instructions to the letter, lest you do something terrible to your registry. :(
Thanks good guys. I couldn't have done it without your help.
