    Hi,

I help the senior citizens here learn the basics of computers plus email and internet. The following note is from one of my students who is 93 years old and lives in an assistant living home. She still has her sense of humor but I just don't know what the problem could be. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Jean
When I turn the computer on it usually comes up with Turn your p.c.on . Now
it comes up in Chinese. Also when I turn it off it usually says Computer is
turning off. This also is in Chinese at least I believe that is what it is
saying. I can't read Chinese. It's just when I turn on and turn off.
I looked in the mirror and my eyes aren't slanted.

Any ideas as to what happened? Jo Heimer

Thank you for any help with her problem.

I have no idea about, "When I turn the computer on it usually comes up with Turn your p.c.on ". The one saying it is safe to turn the PC off is usual enough although the language switch is a little strange. At a guess, she accidentially changed the regional language setting on the PC.

In the control panel, open Regional and Language Options and make sure it is set to English or if not, change it back to English.

Thanks for your help. I did pass the information on but she has never replied so I'm not sure if it worked or not. Hopefully so.

    Thanks again.
