    Hello,
I'm posting for a friend (who is going into computer withdraws, lol)...

    She has Windows XP....

I guess she put in her restore disk (had a huge quanity of viruses and such). It went through everything and came up Restore Complete but now when she tries to start up it has just a black screen that says, "Wait while Windows prepares to start" Yet it never starts

    Any suggestions???

    Thanks, Rhonda

Is the restore CD you mentioned a OEM system reinstall CD?

She said she used the CD's that came with it:(below what she wrote me)

I used the official system recovery disks........that came with it.
2 of them in a set.....they say right on it that it will recover your computer to factory settings.

Suggest your friend goes through the Recovery process again - she is booting from the CD?

You might advise her to read through any bumf which came with the computer re. the use of the Recovery disks.

I asked her and she said she has tried it 4 times....everytime it comes up saying successful....but when she reboots nothing....other than it saying wait while windows prepares to start. Should she leave the disc in? (I dont know if she is or isn't)

    Thanks, Rhonda

Ok...she said it tells her to remove the disc and hit any button to reboot.
