I manage a publicly used PC running under Win2k. I had to reload the OS last week. During set up, I got query "Assume xx will always log in first?" and the choices were me or the user (with a password). I have never seen this choice before. Anyway, I chose "me ", thinking it wasn't a big deal. The user name is "public ", was originally auto-logged in, and we used no password. (The compute is located in a senior center and security is a non-issue, whereas considering the average user, passwords would be.) Now, on start-up I am autologged in with administrator privileges, of course. Since I am usually not there, this is not good for a public machine. How can I set it up so that "public" is the default log in on start up?

    where did tweakui go?

I downloaded tweakui. When I started to use it, I got message saying it worked from "Control Panel did I want to go there" or some such. I clicked yes. Then i went to Control Panel, but find no icons for tweakui. So what did I do or not do?

I'll assume you installed it properly by right clicking the .INF file and clicking Install.

    I have read
"On some systems for some inexplicable reason this doesn't work. If it doesn't work try following the same procedure on the file of the type control panel extension(*.cpl). "

I don't know if the second part works or not, cuz I never had it not work with the original install procedure.

Sorry for late response. All the above takes place on a computer that I sort of baby sit at a senior center, and I haven't been able to get back there before this. I think it is the second issue, as I couldn't find a .inf file. The message on double clicking is that the app is run from control panel do I want to install it now. I click "yes ", but when I go to cont panel, there is no sign of tweakui. However, if I go to "add/remove programs ", I see tweakui as installed. So, yes, it seems to be installed, but how can i access it? Is the exec file somewhere where I can directly start it, by double clicking, e.g.?

Check here.. Just change the username and password. This works for NT, 2K & XP.
