    Hi to All -

I'm trying to get rid of the item in the startup section of msconfig.
The file is winkzdg.exe. I saw it in the windows\system directory, and in spite of my taking it out of both the registry (deleting the keys in the run sections) and
the startup list of items, it puts itself right back in to both as soon as I apply the changes. It appears that it is writing something to
disk, and from time to time interferes with scandisk and defrag.

I looked in many books but can't find anythingas to this file's purpose or why it can't be deleted.

    Thanks, Jeff Brown

Thanks Zephyr - It worked fine. I had 17 files deleted (unnecessary files) and 38 repaired.
