    Anybody speak Mac out there

We have a small LAN connected by a Linksys wireless router. There are 2 PCs (Win2K OS) "hard wired" to the router via Ethernet. The 3rd member of the network is a Mac iBook laptop (OS X) which is hooked up via "Airport" (Mac wireless). The PCs share files and a printer perfectly. The iBook recognizes the PCs as members of the LAN, but the PCs don't seem to want to play with the Mac. Even though the iBook can "see" the PCs, the printer which was configured to share with all members of the network, is not recognized. That is, if you double click on a PC icon, nothing appears to be accessed. Put another way,
if you look at "computers near me" on one of the PCs, you see only PCs, no Mac. But if you are using the Mac, you do see the PCs, but you cannot access the files or peripherals. Is there help out there somewhere??
    Thanks.

aaaah, u got mac os X, lucky u! Great, innit? :)

    Ur pb :
    - has ur network ever worked or is it a new instal?
    - can u ping the mac from windows? (start>run>type "command ", then in the dos window type "ping ibook ip address ", ie "ping 192.168.0.101" )
    - have u got a firewall on the windows comps?

I think ur pb is only related to the mac set up, and therefore don't think u're on the right forum. I can be wrong though.
See if that can help :

steps to set up the mac to work on a windows network:

    shawdaifu,

I haven't been in a mixed environement dealing with a combination of Macintosh and Windows. I have only delt with Windows networking but I can provide you with a link that can help you with this process. Take a look at the following link and see if this helps you.

    Follow up

Thanks to above. Going to the Apple sites was very helpful. The best article on this is at:
    http://homepage.mac.com/william_white/print_to_windows.html for future reference.
This is for a situation where you have Mac with OSX operating sys and Win 2K or above.
If you have OS8 or OS9 in Mac, I'm still searching.
This BBS is the greatest. The Apple dealer from whom I bought the Mac was clueless.
