My daughter keeps getting this message.

    Error in winsock module
    connection structure is unknown
    Possible reason
Your firewall and or Antivirus application block the System-file:csrss.exe
Make sure that csrss.exe can connect to the internet

It does get connected to the internet.
It seems to be working ok, except for these messages popping up all the time. We can "X" them out, and they keep coming back.
Three messages, just different. The other is System file: services.exe, and smss.exe.
How can I get rid of these.
    Not running any virus protection
Don't know if the XP firewall is on

    Windows XP home
    256 ram
    4 gig drive
    wireless connection pci card
    Dell celeron 1.2

    Hello rgn,

To find out whether the XP's firewall is running:

If SP2 installed > Control Panel > Security Center. There will be an indication whether its on or off.

I SP2 not installed > start > run > type sevices.msc > ok. The Services page will come up. Scroll down to ICF/ICS. The right column will indicate whether started. Double clicking will bring you to a dialog box to start, should be "automatic ".

In either case, they should be running.

Very good possibilty that the system is infected due to your daughter's negligence, because that's what this is.

    Regards - Charles

Not an option in today's world.

Try AVG Free - well recommended.
