    Due to a scanning problem with my d135 HP chat line advised me to reinstall HP Director. Will it didn't uninstall correctly. Now it tell me the software is already installed. If you check Control Panel Add/Remove Programs the HP is there but there is no Change/Remove button.
    I've tried deleting everything in HKEY that has anything to do with HP.
    Anyideas before I have to reload XP. :confused:

    Perhaps:
    While I did the search and this link was full of hits either pertaining to or including like issues, specific to your printer. I think the results were java script loaded and only good for that connection to the site. This means you may have to type d135 in the subject field and uninstall in the question field, hit the search arrow and you should be good to go. All of this is located in the top right corner (referring to the type-in fields to filter your search).

    I didn't go any deeper into the links than a few so you may wish to pour your self a cup of coffee and weed through these if the above doesn't help. The only other advice I could add is follow the install instructions to the letter. Do not hook up the printer untill the install dialogue tells you to. You may want to pull the plug on the printer and plug it back in. (Without going into detail I had to do this.)

    Restore point is always an option, if one was set prior to your recent install. Are you familiar with this?

    NOTE* The directions seem to indicate the uninstaller is on the CD or, perhaps, included in the software you may have downloaded for this. I hope this is the case. If not perhaps the "Hp cleanup" tool will help. I am adding this because a long time ago and very vaguely (emphasis on the vague) in my memory, while struggling with different verions of drivers for this printer, for a friend, I seem to recall this exact problem, meaning the add/remove list had no visible add remove. It seems to me there was setting in the registry that had a "right hand paned" key/value that was marked as "NoRemove" or "NoUninstall" or something similar. I did something to this key, either changed it's value or deleted it, I don't remember, but once I did that, the entry in add/remove cpl had an allowable uninstall shown. I know this may not help you, since you've stated that you've searched and cleaned your registry of HP entries but perhaps there are still some lurking somewhere. I thought I'd mention it even if it is as "clear as mud ". :)

    Did you delete from here also? H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall. Scroll down the Uninstall key list and delete the entry you want removed from Add/Remove Programs.

    Goddez1 and lj50;
    I spent 6 hours on the phone with HP India trying to get this resolved.
    I have done all the things you mentioned A number of times.
    I did manage to get the printer, scanner and Fax re-installed independly of director, but without the Director software, the scanner and fax will not work. Hence I have an HP All-in-one with a print only opiton.

    I guess I'm off reloading XP.
    :(
