How do I keep programs from stealing focus? Nothing is more frustrating than when you're reading something in one window, (especially in IE) and some damned web page pops up a new window and it covers what you're currently reading... You click on your old window, and the new one tries setting a cookie, so it goes back to the new window... Over and over and over -- Every time it tries setting a cookie...

I've looked for an option "Keep programs from stealing focus" but haven't been able to find such an option...

AFAIK it is based on the way the program is written and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

The only solution would be to install an ad pop-up killer. Keep in mind they don't work 100% of the time and sometimes they kill legitimate windows.

Thanks Scott. I was guilty of not really reading thru the original post and didn't notice that browser windows were mainly what had him concerned.

I have been fighting the "focus" thing with some home grown apps on our network and just fixated on that. Some idiot coded pop-up error message windows that take focus and refuse to let go.
