DVD Rom

    can anyone help me my DVD ROM Drive won't open doe's nothing I was useing it.

    I have a HP computer windows xp home Editon .

    Hi Bob,

    Can you supply some more details. It does not happen to be a DVD burner (RW), does it? Some burner programs "lock" the disk in the drive.

    Does the LED light flash on the drive when you startup the computer?

    Does the drive show in My Computer? Do you get any error messages when you try to "open" it.
    In My Computer, right-click on the drive. There should be a selection to Eject.

    Were you doing anything at the time that may have contributed. Telling Media Player to burn a disk when you only have a ROM drive will cause serious problems (I know, I've tried it :D ). Try uninstalling the drive in Device Manager. It should be automatically reinstalled on reboot.

    If the disk may have not reseated correctly in the tray, press the tray door gently, but firmly, to see if the disk reseats in the tray.

    Thank you for your response , I solved it simpel all I had to do is unplug the computer wait a few min and plug it back in and it freed it up and runing now.
