Hello: using 2 different H-P deskjet printers on 2 different PCs at 2 different sites, for entirely different businesses, which are not networked (I'm stating that there is no connection at all between these printers), here is the same problem for both:

The deskjets start a print job beginning with the last page.

OS: WinXP pro SP2 (both PCs).

The printers' properties designate that the printer is to start with the FIRST page.

Is this a registry problem? What would I delete? Or otherwise, how can I get these printers to work as I want them?

This is a problem that interferes especially with printing checks in quickbooks.

I have already searched HP's own deskjet forums & not found a Q & A dealing with this.

    Thank you.

Check under Properties > General Tab

    On a 920C,
Select Printing Preferences > Layout Tab and there is an option for Page Order (front to back, or back to front)

    On a 5220,
Select Printing Preferences, Basics tab for the same options.

From the printer Help Menu; Troubleshooter; Some features that came with my printer don't work.(button)
Are you using a printer driver that was provided by the printer manufacturer?
When you upgrade your operating system to Windows XP, any printer drivers that are not Windows XP-compatible will be replaced by one of the printer drivers that comes with Windows XP.

These drivers might not support all the features that come with your printer. If you notice that some of the features are missing, it is best to install a new driver that is provided by the printer manufacturer.

I noticed that my printer did the same, but never thought about fixing it till I read this post.

My printer is a 950c. I went to www.hp.com and downloaded their software. Now all is well.

Thanks, I guess for motivating me to fix it.

    I hopes this helps you.

    Thank you for replies.

-Whitphil: I was aware of your advice before posting. That was the most obvious place & I looked there first. Didn't work. Looking for something a bit more obscure & difficult to patch I guess.
-Sled: Thank you. However, while I notice your printer has a separate driver for winxp, HP sez that winXPs own drivers are the "best" solution for the 820cse and doesn't provide one (or one easy to get to).

    So I'm still looking.

(Just to cover all bases), this DOES occur with ALL printing? Not just from one software package?

And, have you tried Selecting Back to Front? (I presume that it is now set to Front to Back)?
