    Hello all,

When shutting down my computer in the past a message stating it was safe to do so appeared. (It is safe to shut down your computer).

Now my computer shuts down automatically with no safety message.

Is there a way to restore the message on shut down?

    Indy,

The "normal" process is to shut down. The message it is "safe" and then requires you to turn off the PC is the problem side.

Be thankful it is working correctly now.

Thanks for the reply. I was a little concerned about losing the shut down message because the WIN 98 users manual stated that I should have a message saying, "It is safe to turn off your computer ".

I will accept your analysis. Automatically shutting down is a bit quicker, I will admit. :)
