    Hello everyone,

I'm pretty useless with modern technology, and whenever I have a problem I usually find an answer here. But not this time, so I've had to register to seek help.

    I've got Windows XP(home) with SP2, IE6 and OE6.
The problem is, Whenever I send an email it shows a paperclip as though there's an attachment. This has only started in the last few days and I don't know why. I've tested by sending to myself, which confirmed my suspicions, but there doesn't seem to be any setting that would account for it.

Any ideas as to what I've done, or what's going wrong? I hope it's nothing to do with viruses/virii.

    Colin

Hi Colin and welcome to the BBS. Do perchance have an antivirus scanner scanning your outgoing e-mails? AVG or ??? I know AVG attaches a notice to outgoing e-mails and it shows up as a paperclip attachement at the receiving end. Some other flavours of virus scanners may do the same thing. Nothing to worry about, it's normal but can be annoying.

    Thanks John,

    Yes, I've got AVG.

I would never have thought of that causing it. I installed the latest update of their free edition, which effectively replaced the old program. This would be about the same time as when the "problem" seems to have started. Maybe's not though, as I don't often send myself messages.

Thanks very much, I'm so relieved.
    Colin
