Bold, Italic and Underline Menu Icons

Hello:
Sometimes, I cannot remember the exact circumstances, the Bold, Italic and Underline Menu Icons are available at the top of the email screen when I am writing an email message. However lately when I wanted to use one of these functions I did not see these icons and in looking through the various menu options, Format, Tools, Message, I could not find any way that I could change the email screen to provide the Bold, Italic or Underline menu icons. Is there any way that I can include the Bold, Italic and Underline buttons when I am writing an email message in OUtlook Express? TIA, Frank C.

 

In OE, open a new message screen , click VIEW > TOOLBAR > FORMATTING BAR. If it already has a check mark beside it, you have a more serious problem.

 

Those features are only available if you're doing the message in HTML format. When you're composing an email, you need to go to Format and click HTML

 

The message is probably in plain-text format instead of rich-text.

Change via menu format rich-text.
