I am usually able to solve my problems with Windows XP, but this one has flat got me! I am running an A-Open AX4SPE Max board with an ATI ALL-IN-WONDER 9000 Pro video card. I downloaded the latest ATI software and the latest WMP 10 update. When I try to play any .WMV, .MPG, etc. I get the first video frame and sound, but it locks up my computer requiring a reboot every time. When I check the Administrative Tools "Event Viewer" there are no tracks to tell me what the problem is. Can anyone help me with this one? I really need to solve this problem!!! Thanks. -Tom

Sorry - I thought I'd read something that might have been of help but after about 3 hours searching, I can only say that WMP10 appears to either work fine or be a horror tale.

You might try posting the problem to the microsoft WMP newsgroup. Usually some pretty smart folks there although even
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...soft.public.windowsmedia.player&lang=en&cr=US
seems to have more questions than answers.

This issue might be worth a support call to M$. Probably cost you a little but could be worth it. Otherwise it seems the only options are to roll back to WMP9 if you can or to use another media player.

Newt, thanks for the time you spent searching. I did that as well and came up with a zero too. At your suggestion, I'll try the WMP Newsgroup and see if there's anything there before I spend the $s with Microsoft.
    Thanks again, -Tom
