hi, i posted this thread earlier, but i am not sure if my new problem has anything to do with that or not so im making a new thread.

i have automatic windows update on. it told me it had downloaded updates and i should click to install them. So I clicked, and these messages came up:

First of all, why would windows update be installing nvidia audio drivers????

Secondly, that message about some files being wrong, i kept clicking retry, and nothing happened. So I had to close it in the end.

What the hell does all that mean???

    Strange & interesting.

The file path that caused the error is an impossible mix. The only time you see a front-slash in a string like that is if it should be a switch and in that case, a space would be needed. But the mix of back-slash \ (windows style) file path naming and front-slash / as unix or the internet do it isn't ever gonna work.

The additional information screen makes it pretty clear that the WFP thinks it is dealing with a file located on a network share but I gather you are stand-alone.

Try getting rid of the update file then boot to safe mode and run sfc /scannow. When it finishes, open a cmd prompt and run chkdsk /r - answer Yes to running at next boot then reboot.

I would then recommend you download that update and store it locally then run it from your hard drive.

    hmm ok ill try..

what about the nvidia drivers? windows update still keeps trying to install them, and telling me it failed.

i dont understand why, they are there, and running. and it claims to be downloading drivers from october 2004, which is ridiculous, i HAVE them.

    Poor thing is just confused.

Your best option to make the vid problem go away might be to go into device manager and remove your video card then reboot and let it reload.
