Suddenly my quick launch outlook button is launching two copies of the Outlook program. I have removed and re-created the icon on the quick launch bar - still a problem. What can I check next?

I would check to make sure that if you click on another application in the quick launch folder it doesn't open two instances, and open outlook from your desktop, and make sure that works like you expect.

The next thing I would check is the actual quick launch folder - that is (in windows 2000) located in :
    C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch.

There may be two icons for Outlook there, and only one of them showing up.

    Hope this helps!!!

Thanks, but no such luck. I've already tried launching from desktop and works fine - only one instance of Outlook in that directory path. The only other thing I can add, is I recently posted the latest security patch from Microsoft......

Look in your control panel/mouse and make sure that you haven't set the left button to perform a double click by mistake. Ahhhhhhhhhh, first try other icons in your quick launch and see if the same thing happens.

Yep - I thought of that double click possibility already too. Checked the mouse settings, but Outlook is the only icon on the quick launch bar that opens more than one session.

Have you tried deleting the current quick launch and drag a copy of the desktop icon to the quick luanch bar?

Yes, I deleted and re-added the icon before I addressed this forum.

I don't know for sure if this is even possible to do but check the properties of the icon and see if the target shows two listings of outlook express.
