I have series pop-up problems. I have ran spybot and ad-aware, on spy-bot it finds "altnet" which it cannot remove. I use firefox and pop-ups still a huge problem. I have run hi-jack this and this is what it comes up with:

    Welcome to WindowsBBS anav :)

I have some errands to run, so unfortunately can't work up a reply for you right now. If someone else hasn't posted in with some help by the time I return this afternoon/evening, I'll get something posted for you. Hang in there. ;)

OH, Altnet usually comes bundled with Kazaa. Do you have Kazaaa installed? Can you tell us where it's found by Spybot?

anav - Welcome to the Board :)

Please observe Posting Rules #3 - Meaningful Subject. As you are new here I have edited your thread title.

While waiting for one of our Security experts to take a look at your log please either move HijackThis.exe or download again to a folder on your hard drive, say C:\HJT, not to the Desktop or to a Temp folder and run the program again and post a fresh log.

Ok thanks for changing thread title. I am pretty illiterate when it comes to computers no idea what you are talking about saying C:\HJT, but I did make a Anitspyware folder and save HJT there. Dont see any differnece in the new log but maybe you do so here it is. Appreciate the help.

Copy the quote box below to a blank notepad. Make sure the formatting stays the same. Save it to your desktop as altnet.reg, making sure to change the Save As Type to All Files (*.*)
Double click the reg file and allow to merge into the registry. Let us know if Spybot still finds that entry on your next scan.

Scan again with HijackThis and place a check next to the following entries. Close ALL other windows and click fix.

Right click My Computer and choose properties. On system restore tab, check the box to turn off. OK out.

Either reboot and repeatedly tap F8 to enable the start menu and select safe mode, or go to start>run and type msconfig, hit enter. On the boot.ini tab, check the box next to /safeboot and click OK. Click yes to restart. This will restart your computer in safe mode. Logon to your user account.

Now in safe mode, you will need to show hidden files and folders, as well as system files and extensions for known file types.

Open C:\WINDOWS\system32 and delete the following files.

    Searchx.htm
    winupdt.exe
    AUNPS2.DLL
    vvmrvv.exe
    sfjpxlt.exe
    avmeter4.exe
    elitesud32.exe

    And the following folders.

    nsvsvc
    picsvr

Open C:\Program Files and delete the folder bhb7o4hg.
Open C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\msw and delete the file BMan1.exe. Please let us know what else is in that folder.
Open C:\Temp if present, select all and delete.
Open C:\Windows\Temp, select all and delete.
Open C:\Windows\Prefetch, select all and delete.
Open C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\temp, select all and delete. Do this for all username folders.
Open the control panel, then internet options and delete the temporary internet files, checking the box for offline content. Close Internet Options. Then, still in the control panel, open the Java Plug-in, click the cache tab and then clear.
Open My Computer, right click Local disk C: and choose properties, then disk cleanup. Check all boxes except compress old files and click OK.

If you used msconfig, uncheck the /safeboot box and click ok to reboot. Upon reboot you will be greeted with a message window from the System Configuration Utility. Check the box not to use and don't show, then click OK. If you used F8, just reboot back into Windows.

Scan your PC with RAV. If any files are infected, click the report button then copy and paste it here.

Run another HijackThis scan and post the log.

I missed one that should go.

    O16 - DPF: {FDCC1518-6A63-11D9-AAC8-91EC5E497716} - http://www.ouchvideo.com/mmviewer_emg11.cab

You should also do a search for the files svcmm32.exe and svcmm32.inf, then delete if found.

For the RAV scan, you have to click the link where it says To continue without subscribing click here.

    Delete the entire MSW folder.

Did you miss this entry with HijackThis?

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [bhb7o4hg] C:\Program Files\bhb7o4hg\bhb7o4hg.exe

Were you able to delete the bhb7o4hg folder?

Download the Altnet.zip file attached to this post. Save to your desktop. If it saves as attachment.php, right click and rename to Altnet.zip You may need to enable viewing extensions for known file types to see the zip and php extensions. To do that, open My Computer and click Tools on the menu, then folder options. Click the view tab of the window that opens, uncheck the box to Hide extensions...... and click OK. Now right click the zip and extract the contents to a folder of it's own on your desktop. Open and double click the Altnet.bat file to run it. It will create two text files within the folder. Please post the contents of those files.

Be careful when doing the following, as incorrectly modifying the registry could damage your system to the point of not having the ability to boot.

Click Start>run and type regedit, then hit enter. Click the + sign to expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key, then expand the Software key. Right click on the Altnet key and select Permissions. Click Add and a new window will open. Type your username in the lower pane, then click Check Names. It should enter your machinename\username in the window. Click OK. Now on the first permissions window, click your machinename\username to highlight, then in the lower pane, check all boxes in the allow column. Click OK. Now expand the Altnet key and right click>delete the Dashboard subkey. Then right click>delete the Altnet key.

Does the RAV window, after clicking the link to continue without subscribing, allowing the ActiveX control to install and wating for the definitions to update, look like the one in the attached picture? Five buttons accross the top, the leftmost being Scan My PC.
