sorry thought this question dealt with windows xp specifically more then networking...

i have a 2 computer home network using a SMC router hooked to a cable modem. i would like to enable remote desktop so i can work at both computers from one. i have windows xp pro on both machines

anyways the problem im having is when i try to connect to the remote desktop it prompts me for my windows log in id and password except i dont use a password to log onto windows. if i dont enter anything and try to connect it wont let me and also obviously if i do enter something it wont connect

is there a way to change this so no password is needed? i really dont want to have a password to log on to windows when i start the machines

i looked at the using windows remote desktop how to in the most common problem forum and the security section talks about how to enable the password but im a bit confused because it seems either way having it disabled or enabled still requires a password

anyways any idea how to solve this?

Try typing in the user name and leave the password field empty.
