In trying to update Spywareblaster's data base, I got a message that file "MSVBVM60.DLL" (a module for MS Virtual Basic machine) was missing or corrupt. There are several web sites to get that file, so I downloaded it into C\Program Files\Spywareblaster, and now everything seems OK. But the download site never told me where to put the file (I think it's used in several places), so I put in the Spywareblaster folder because I didn't know what else to do. But where is it supposed to be? Somewhere else in the bowels of XP? Or doesn't it matter? [I find that hard to believe!] BTW, I think the problem was caused by CCleaner, which I was messing around with....don't touch CC!

My copy of MSVBVM60.DLL is in windows\system32.

What makes you think CCleaner caused the problem?

Newt...OK, sys32 seems to work OK, thanks. But how would I know that if you hadn't told me...is there a master listing somewhere?

I downloaded and experimented a bit with CC yesterday. And doing a Google, I ran across a posting that said CC could badly interact with MS Virtual Basic. I got rid of CC, and suspect that that file went away with CC also....no problems before then.

I'm doing this from memory, so I *hope* I'm remembering correctly
    1. %SystemRoot%\system32
    2. %SystemRoot%
    3. Program directory

Spyware Blaster requires the Visual Basic Runtime files in order to run. You can download the runtimes from ms, as well as other sites on the www. They get installed to %SystemRoot%\system32

I'm not sure what Arie and Tony are saying. The download didn't come with an installer, I just placed the DLL file in SpywareBlaster, and then moved it (following Newt's suggestion) to the System32 folder (it was not there until I moved it in). I guess I 'd expect that those who are suppling the DLL file would tell you where to put it. Oh, well..can't have everything...

Something just came up....do I need to "register" this DLL file that now resides in its correct spot (System32 folder). Never heard of this before, where can I look to find out how to do it? Thnx

Most probably not... since the program is now working, it suggests no "registration" is needed :)

That DLL doesn't require "registration "... (AFAIK)

I learned a lot; Arie, thanks...the less mucking around I do on this PC, the better.

Jim...many thanks, I guess I should have looked around first, I just assumed it was my problem. I did the download, it looks like an earler version of what I already had. But maybe it did any "registration" for me, so I'll leave it.

    Thanks, guys.
