    hello.
    WindowsXP
    pentuim 4 3.0
    102bMB ram
    i have a 120GB WD, which is partitioned to 3 drives : c , d and e.

lately i've noticed that files i delete (using shift+delete), dont free up space on my hardrive. for example: i've deleted a movie ISO which was 4.5GB. the file dissapeared yet my harddrive never registered it, meaning hasn't freed the space.
so now my harddisk is down to 3.5GB free space , when actually i only have 8GB of data, out of a 45GB partition, i'm missing about 30 GB.
    same happens on partition e.

would really appreciate any thoughts on the matter.
    thanks.

Try running disk cleanup on each partition. You might also want to check the System restore tab in My Computer properties to see if all partitions are being monitored and adjust as needed.

Do you have Norton System works on the computer. Norton has some sort of undelete "feature" as part of it, that doesn't actually delete the files off the drive.

I have noticed this same problem before on my computer using the SHIFT+DEL methord. However after I restart my computer it seems to have deleted it and it also frees up disk space. Check your Norton Protected Recycle Bin settings prehaps and also run a complete system clean up. Let us know how you get on. :)
