    What is the purpose of the new MS windows installer 3.1 being available as a high priority download in windows update with this months batch of patches. How would non-developers use this?

    I previously read this article and stuff on MSDN. Bottom line...should home users install this on their PCs?

    FWIT, I installed it on my XP Home without ill effects. It is presumably an improved version of the installer you now have and recommended by MS and classified as critical.
