The past 3-4 days, I have not been able to download my e-mail from my server because of this error message. And yet, if I use Incredimail there is no problem downloading any and all e-mails from my server. I know the problem is not with the ISP, but with OE, I just do not know how to fix it. It doesn't even ask for my user name and password to access my e-mail, as it always has before. From what I can see, it is not even trying to access my e-mail, it just automatically gives me this error message the very second I click on "send and receive."

The error message I am getting is as follows:
[Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'pop.nep.net', Server: 'pop.nep.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F]

I tried Troubleshooting the problem, but this error is not listed, and nothing else in Troubleshooting applied.

    Any suggestions or ideas?

    Thank you Arie

I will check out that link. But I don't understand why the connection would be closed to OE, and yet open to Incredimail program. Doesn't that seem odd to you?

Arie, I did as you said, and Thank you Everyone!

    Arie,

I looked over that page more closely this afternoon, and found a resolve for where Outlook Express does not remember your password, which was a problem I have had ever since setting up this PC 2 years back. And I'm thinking they may be what was causing most of this problem. So I followed the directions given for removing incorrect registry entry, rebooting, and then adding my password again, closed down OE, restarted it, and guess what?

MY E-MAIL BEGAN TO DOWNLOAD IMMEDIATELY!!! :D

I have no idea what that never worked in the past, but I'm hoping that is what was the major cause of my dilemma. So right now, it's working just fine, and I must thank you for sending me in the right direction.

    To Newt and Outlook,

Yes, to both of you. I had tried repairing OE and I had run the System File Checker several times. It never corrected this particular problem by doing that. But I thank you both for coming to my aid, and for your suggestion.

I will probably be holding my breath for a while now until I am more secure in knowing the progam is finally up and working right, and will continue to do so. But at this moment, I am very happy, and so thankful to be a part of this community. Everyone is always so helpful every time I seem to butt my head against some brick wall with my PC. It means so very much to me, and I can't thank any of you enough.

    Have a wonderful weekend.

    The problem is happening again

I guess I'm just a pest, but OE worked perfect all day yesterday, and right off today it's back doing the same thing, giving me the same error message.

I have checked the ISP settings, I have it marked as an Exception for the firewall, finally now my username and password is staying where it should, so it's not that anymore. I am not going to remove and reinstall OE because there is nothing wrong with it, since it worked perfectly all day yesterday. But something is causing a problem, and I can figure out what that something is.

I just realized that I should mention that I can send mail using my Outlook Express any time, with no problems at all. It's just receiving it that I have the problem.
