    Welcome to the board.

A little more information about your version of windows and your computer would be helpful (see my sig as an example of overkill in that respect :) ). You may have noticed the similar thread at the bottom of this page; that will tell you that this will not be a simple process. Suggest you follow the directions in dave's first post but don't try to fix anything yourself. Wait 'till dave on one of the other experts can help you!

You should be able to delete that file in safe mode while logged onto the Admin account, if not your own. If that fails, install Move-on-Boot. You will then have a new right click option on files to Delete on the next boot. Tag the file for deletion and reboot.

What kind of problems are you having with NAV?

NAV 2005 will not install. Errors out: says that a previous version is still installed. I have worked with thier Tech support and awaiting a call from them today for more help. As far as we can see all the old version 2001 have been removed.

Thanks Dave from Indiana, I started windows in safe mode, was able to delete ladhide5.dll, but upon restart, it was there again. I downloaded Moveonboot, selected the file to delete on restart and when it restarted, it was back again. :( Any more ideas?

    Thanks, Roger

Download HijackThis.exe from here. Save it to a permanent folder (I create a new folder in C:\ named HJT). Open and click scan, then save log. Once it is saved it will open in notepad. Select all from the edit button, copy and paste the results here.

Off to work now, I'll check in this evening.

Reboot to safe mode and again clear all temp folders and temporary internet files.
    Empty the recycle bin.

Reboot back into Windows and if the file is back, please zip a copy and send it to me here. Put WindowsBBS ladhide5.dll in the subject line.

    Post a new HijackThis log.

    Your log is clean. The file IAdHide5.dll (not ladhide5.dll) is associated with Backweb, which is most likely associated with your Logitech or Kodak software. Fix this entry;

    O4 - Global Startup: Kodak software updater.lnk = C:\Program Files\Kodak\KODAK Software Updater\7288971\Program\Kodak Software Updater.exe

reboot and see if it re-creates. Don't really need the autoupdater anyway.

Dave, the file was in the temp drive when I restarted, but I was able to delete it this time. I will reboot after I send this to see if it comes back or if it stays gone.
I thought this file was keeping my Norton Anti Virus to load, but with it gone from the temp file NAV still thinks I have a previous version installed. Thanks for your help with this.
    Roger

Maybe this will help with NAV. Download RegSeeker and extract to it's own folder. Open and click clean registry. When the scan is done, make sure the backup box in lower left corner is checked, click select all, right click within the results and delete. Repeat until nothing else is found. Now use the find in registry option to search for Norton and Symantec. Delete whatever is found. Then do a file/folder search for the same and delete. Reboot and do another registry clean. Then try installing 05.

Copy the quote box to notepad. Save it to your desktop with anyname, but with a bat extension. Reboot to safe mode and double click to run it.

The batch file deleted a lot of files. I still have the NAV files in C\WINNT\TEMP. also in there is the downloaded NAVsetup.exe. On my desktop is the shortcut to it. A funny thing, when I downloaded the setupfile, that is where I downloaded it to, now what is there is the shortcut to the WINNT temp folder. If you have any more ideas I will be glad to try them. Symantec has told me they would call back in 48 business hours with someone else who may be able to help.

    Ready for more ideas.
Thanks, what happened to yesterday's weather?

Looking at other posts, you are a busy guy. One thing I just thought about. After a windows update, my 16bit programs will not work unless I copy AUTOEXEC.NT into the WINNT/SYSTEM32 folder. NAV2001 was a 16 bit device I believe. Does that help solve anything? In order for my older programs to work, I have to copy the AUTOexec file each time I reboot.

Yeah, I'm a bit busy  LOL

If the files stuck in temp are files, not folders, install Move-on-Boot. It will give you a new right click option on files to Delete on the next boot. use it to tag the files, including any inside of subfolders and reboot.

The disappearing autoexec.nt is something many folks have been chasing a cause to. This is the first I've seen it associated with a Windows Update (others may have) and also the first I've heard of it disappearing after every reboot. Do you know which update? Possibly even able to narrow it down to two or three possiblilities? You might try uninstalling them and seeing if it fixes that problem, then re-install one at a time to see which caused it.
