Can someone tell if the proper way to remove Norton AV 2005 from a computer running Win XP Home Edition.

Someone told me there's more to it than just removing it from the "Add & Remove Programs "

    Thank you,
    Paul 43

"Add & Remove Programs" is the safest route. Your friend may have been thinking of Rnav.exe, or the SymClean removal utility.
See this page for more information.

You might also want to check out Symantec's website. It seems to me that they have an uninstall utility that removes files that are not removed through the usual Add/Remove method.

This doesn't help but I have the same problem removing NAV 2001. The utility I hope works for you.

paul43--Good for you for finding that article. I looked under "Uninstall NAV2005" (and variations) at Symantec's Search site, found a few zillion references but nothing on NAV2005. Seeing your success, I tried "Remove NAV2005 ". It was the first article in the list. Of course it was named "Uninstall NAV2005 ". :D
P.S. How did you find it?

Welshjim, I went to the Symantic site www.symantic.com then Support>Product support CL Home & Small Business>Online support, free technical support>select NAV & 2005 in the drop down menu
Then I typed in "remove Norton Anti-virus 2005" in the search box but no procedures came up UNTIL I switched the "drop down" box from "All the words" to "Any Words " then I found it.

Note: there are 2 procedures listed for Unistalling Nav 2005, one at the top of the list and another one further on down.

    Hope this helps.
