    Hi all,

Im running XP Pro with Sp2. I plugged my iPod into the USB2.0 port, and it was given the standard external HDD icon. Windows media player 10 then decided to open when I docked the iPod, and now its been given this really funky iPod icon. How can I change it back, and also change other icons in My Computer?

    Thanks in advance

    Simon Singh

In my computer go to Tools>Folder Options>File types. Click on the item you want changed and then select Advanced. At the top you will have the option to change the icon.

    Hope this helps.

Is there no way to only change certain drive icons? I have numerous card readers in my pc which show up as removable drive etc.

right click on the icon>properites>change icon. Then choose browse to find the old icon or download a new one. There is another way but it depends on what the properties are on the icon, but this should work. If not post again and we'll work it out.

Xeth - Welcome to the Board :)

As you will see this problem has been resolved :)

Your suggestion is the standard method of changing Desktop icons, except System icons and does not apply to drive icons in Windows Explorer or My Computer.

Download and install Customize Shell Folder Icons. It adds a customization page to the properties sheet of a folder or drive and will allow you to change the icon to one of your choice.

You can see some of mine in this screenshot.
