I thought I had it made. I found this site for downloading Macromedia 7.0 Player. I attempted the free download and nothing happened. I have been all over the place trying to find a flash movie player. All I want to do is see the card a friend sent me.

Any help would be appreciated as usual.

Go to this page, click on the "Download now" button and follow the instructions on that page. That will install Macromedia Flash Player.

You may need Macromedia's Shockwave Player, too. For that, go to this page and repeat the process to install it.

    Flash Movies. No dice

Maybe it's me. When I go to the first link and click install, nothing happens. The second link appeared to lead to a completed download, but I still can't play a flash movie. This is wierd.

    Test them:
    http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/welcome/
    Then here if interested:
    http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/flashpro/video/gallery/

Go to the above, in the order given, and see if the flash clips play? Do they?
Personal favorite I found amusing for about ten minutes. I was facinated and mystified, wondering "how'd they do that "?
http://www.subservientchicken.com/ I tried tricking the chicken by demanding outlandish things. Guess I had way....way to much time on my hands that day... :)

It may be possible that your friend made this ecard with a special specific player. One that should have included the player in the *.exe for the card. Is this possible? I used to have an message/card program that would do this. If not are you sure this card is from your friend, meaning it was not sent as an email attachment or a "follow/click this link" included in an email and you have been duped by a virus.

    ===========
    Try an ecard:

Pick one. Make it. Preview it. Does it play????

jersal--You need to have IE Tools|Internet Options|Security tab|Custom Level| "Run ActiveX controls and plugins" set at Enable or Prompt to be able to:
    1) download the Flash program or
    2) play or test Flash (per goddez1's suggestion) directly from the Internet.
However, once you have successfully downloaded Flash, you can then download a Flash graphic to your hard drive and play it without regard to the ActiveX setting.

Flash Movies This is getting wierd

Thanks Goddez1. I was able to get some action from your first link. The second led me to the same experience I've had over and over. I tried to download and it just wouldn't grunt. After clicking Install for Macromedia 7.0 the page says "Done." But nothing happened. I ran a search on my hard drive for Macromedia and got a cookie.

There is one thing though. All the windows involved had a little red X in the upper left hand corner. It's like when images down't load.

Here's the link my friend gave me.

    http://www.inspiringthots.net/movie/start-over.php

Oh yes. I did go to Security and made sure the Active X was enabled. The only settings involving active x which were disabled were the unsafe and "unsigned. "

On that image not loading I can't remember the setting contoling that.

    Flash Movies Could it Be?

I just had a thot. The second one today!!!!! Could it be that my cookie setting on medium or my spyware is having something to do with not being able to download Macromedia Player?

I don't remember ever not being able to images before.

    I Got It!!!!!

Goddez1, you are a genius!!! I finally checked a thing I had called Spy Blaster and there it was. A setting barring Flash Movies or Downloads. So I unchecked that sucker and tried your link for the umpteeth time. I GOT THE DOWNLOAD AT MACROMEDIA PLAYER.

The first thing I did was checked out the chicken. I got him to salute. I can see I'm gonna spend some time with KFC.

By the way, you wouldn't wanna hang out with a seventy-seven year old, fat, bald man with a leaky heart valve wouldja? hee hee

    Thank you so very much.

    Happy days!

I see you figured it and got it squared away. As to "hanging out ", it is not the seventy-seven year old, fat, bald man with a leaky heart valve that's the problem, it's the seventy-seven year old, fat, bald man with a leaky heart valve that now "flashes, that gives me pause. That and my 52 year old, 6'2 ", ever loving hubby of 33 years.

I'm so glad you are finally able to put this behind you and this problem is fixed. Thank you for the update and we'll all share in the thanks, Miz, Welshjim and myself..... :)
