Okay, so I use Firefox and I like to use Quicktime to play my MPEGs mainly because it always opens within my browser. But, I restarted my computer and when I went to play an MPEG, it said there was no plug-in and I had to download Quicktime again. Now, when I try to play a file, it plays externally, having to open the program.

How do I get Quicktime back to where it plays within the browser?

    DukeDevils9192,

Clear the Location Bar, and then type about:plugins. Is QuickTime listed? It should be there, especially in view of the fact that you reinstalled the program, after installing Firefox.

Are there any QuickTime *.dll files listed in your C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape\plugins folder?

What Version of QuickTime are you running?

Are you trying to play an audio or video file, and also could you give us a link to a page where you aren't getting QT to work, please.

Let us know and we can move on from here, and thanks!

    EDIT:

Try enabling the Quicktime preferences | Browser Plugin | Mime settings, to enable the MPEG file type and any other file type you wish to enable. Click the + to expand the categories, if they are collapsed. Then try a Test for an MPEG Video file:

Thanks Ramona, but I actually got it worked out. I installed the latest Quicktime player and then changed the MIME settings. And now, I can play everything I need.

    Thanks again.

    DukeDevils,

Glad you worked it out, and you are able to play your MPEG files!
